Additionally, this amount can provide more than 400 meals at congregate senior-center sites, where seniors gather for nutritious meals and social interaction. Even a $2,500 donation can multiply this impact significantly, expanding access to vital nutrition services for countless elderly individuals in New Haven.
How we vet recipient partners
At Elm City Autos, we prioritize partnering with reputable nonprofits that serve the senior population with integrity and accountability. We focus on organizations that are contracted through Area Agencies on Aging and are members of the Meals on Wheels America network. These organizations adhere to federal and state standards, including those set forth by the Older Americans Act Title III-C nutrition standards. We ensure that our partners have minimal or no waiting lists, indicating that they are sufficiently funded to meet the needs of our community’s seniors.
How proceeds flow
When you donate a vehicle, the proceeds from the sale after tow and processing costs are allocated directly to our partner programs. Approximately 70-80% of the gross proceeds from the sale of your donated vehicle will be directed to support senior nutrition programs. This funding is then proportioned to ensure it reaches programs that provide the most essential services to seniors, delivering meals and nutritional support where it is needed most. Every dollar truly counts in making a difference!
